Healthy sleep can be life-changing.

Our mission at Shuni is to help everyone sleep better and wake up happier. While we’ve been able to help many people transform their lives through our sleep coaching program, we’ve also heard from so many others who need help but don’t have the time and financial resources to get it right now.

From talking to you, we also realized that there is so much fear and confusion about sleep, which (surprise!) frequently leads to worse sleep. We believe everyone should have access to crucial knowledge: the fundamentals of sleep science, accurate information on how to get better sleep, and evidence-based skills for managing stress (a major contributor to insomnia).

We built this app as a free resource to help you sleep better with skills, not pills. Here’s what you will find.

1. Sleep Lessons

These are recommended readings for understanding sleep. Perhaps you’ve already read “similar” articles on the internet on sleep hygiene. If you care enough to be here, chances are, you’ve spent time doing your research! However, we encourage you to read these lessons carefully, with an eye towards reflection and digesting. When you finish each lesson, ask yourself:

  • What new information did I learn?

  • Based on this, what specific changes in behavior and beliefs do I want to make?

2. Guided Meditations

A specific high-impact behavior is practicing the skills of mindfulness. You’ll find guided audio meditations to support you in this practice.

As you listen to our guided meditations, you may be surprised that they feel a bit difficult. They might feel unfamiliar. That’s okay! We designed our guided meditations to help you build capacity around a particular mindfulness skill, not simply be a voice to lull you to sleep. Over time, you’ll develop the internal capability to make us obsolete. Delete us! That’s what we want.

Make a Plan for Success

First, a disclaimer: this app is a free self-guided resource, not a stand-in for a real coach or therapist. If you need it, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

That said, there is a lot you can do independently to increase your chances of success. Specifically by making a weekly plan.

Each week, pick one task in each of these five categories:

  1. 👓 learn by reading & reflecting

  2. ⏳ adjust your self-care schedule

  3. 🌱 nourish yourself in a specific way

  4. 🧠 practice a mindfulness skill

  5. ✅ change a high-impact behavior

Pro Tip: You can read more about goal-setting frameworks such as SMART goals and OKRs. The gist is that you are much more likely to succeed if you set specific goals and don’t overwhelm yourself. Pick just one from each category, no more. At the end of the week, reflect on how you did last week and plan for the next.
